The 2007-2008 Cheerleading Squad will perform at all
home football games and men's and women's basketball games. |

Future Tryouts
Tryouts for the 2007-2008 Cheerleading Squad will be held Friday, April
20, 2007 (6:00 pm to 8:00 pm) and Saturday, April 21, 2007 (10:00 am to
1:00 pm) in the Winthrop-King Centre (gym). All current students and
students accepted for the fall 2007 semester are eligible to participate
in tryouts as long as they have a 2.0 GPA and are not on disciplinary
probation. Attendance at all tryout sessions is mandatory.
All squad members will be required to attend two practices a week during
the football season and one or two practices a week during the
basketball season. There will be additional practices scheduled during
Welcome Week. In addition to practice, all squad members will be
required to maintain their physical fitness levels (cardiovascular,
strength, flexibility, skill) by committing to a fitness plan that will
take place outside of practice.
Students interested in trying out should be prepared to learn a cheer
and dance sequence. Those students trying out will also present jumps
and will be placed in to stunt groups to demonstrate basic knowledge.
Tumbling is an optional part of the tryout process; however, those
students wanting to present tumbling may do so at tryouts.
When attending tryouts, students should wear sneakers and solid attire
or Shorter attire. Students should not wear any jewelry and hair should
be worn up. In addition, all students should bring the completed waiver
form and a copy of insurance information if they wish to tryout. Please
email Eileen Steinhauer at esteinhauer@shorter.edu to obtain the waiver
(Please note, students under the age of 18, must have a parent or
guardian sign the waiver).
