John Moseley - Head Coach

This year marks Jon Moseley’s first season as head coach for the Lady Hawks. Before coming to Shorter, Moseley was the head volleyball coach at Guntersville High School in Guntersville, Ala., where he coached back-to-back 4-A Alabama State Championship teams in ’04 and ’05. Prior to his tenure in Guntersville, he served as head coach at Cherokee County in Centre, Ala., where his teams advanced to the Elite Eight six times, as well as two final four appearances in ’98 and ’03. He also led them to the state championships in ’99, ’01 and ’02. Moseley was named the Gadsden Times Coach of the Year in ’02 and ’05, and the Marshall County Coach of the Year in ’04 and ’05. His career record is 479-158.

Moseley graduated cum laude from Vanderbilt University in ’93 with a B.S. in mathematics and a minor in latin American Studies. During college, he was involved with the Vanderbilt Volleyball Club team and also worked as a student athletic trainer. He earned his Master of Education degree in Secondary Education from Vanderbilt in ’98.

Noel Carper - Assistant Coach

Noel Carper begins his first season as assistant coach for the volleyball program. Carper teaches self defense, karate and raquetball at Shorter. He coached volleyball at Berry from ’00 to ’03 and earned his black belt in karate in ’98.

He earned his B.A. from Berry College in ’85 and his M.S. in political science from the University of Georgia in ’93.
