Josh Severns - Head Coach

Josh Severns enters his third season as head coach of the Shorter men’s soccer program and second season as head coach of the women’s program. With two winning seasons behind his back in 2006, he hopes to continue the upward swing in 2007.

A graduate of Birmingham-Southern College, Josh was part of three TranSouth Conference championship teams and two regular season conference championships. He participated in the NAIA National Tournament twice, winning the regional championship and appearing in the National Tournament Final Four in 1999. Following graduation, he served two years as a graduate assistant coach at BSC. While in Birmingham, Josh also coached club soccer with Mountain Brook Soccer Club, now called the Birmingham United Soccer Association.

Josh earned a Bachelor of Arts in English in 2001 and is currently earning his master’s from Jacksonville State University in liberal studies. He holds a nationally certified USSF “B” coaching license, a USSF Level 1 goalkeeping diploma and has been an NSCAA member of many years.

Emily S. Holbrook - Women's Soccer Assistant Coach

Emily Holbrook enters her second season as the women's assistant coach, having helped the Lady Hawks to the SSAC tournament last year.

Emily was starting goalkeeper at Tennessee Technological University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 2001. In England, She was starting Goalkeeper for Hampton Ladies in 2001 and was traded to Charlton Athletic FC in 2002. In 2003, she transferred to Blackburn Rovers FC as starting Goalkeeper and led the team to an undefeated League Championship. While at Blackburn, she coached at their Center of Excellence as well as at their Boys and Girls Community (BRIC) outreach program. In 2004, Emily played at Liverpool FC and trained at their Academy with the Women's FC goalkeeper coach.

While stateside in 2002, she directed the London Kentucky Sharks "Futbol Academy." In Georgia, she has coached regionally in the ODP Developmental Program and locally for Rome's Arsenal Goalkeeping Academy. She holds a National USSF "C" license, her NSCAA Regional Goalkeeping License, and will complete the Masters of Arts in Leadership degree at Shorter College in December 2007.
